More Details:
Aided by his keen hearing and quick reflexes, Caine deflects a tomahawk style axe thrown from behind - probably one of the most famous scenes from the series. But even these skills may not save him from a later stealth attack, and Caine pays a heavy price at the end.

Interesting quotes:
"I have a path. I seek not to change it but to follow it." - Caine, when asked by the missionary woman if he'd like to be a Christian.

"Evil cannot be conquered in the world... It can only be resisted within oneself." - Master Po

"I do not know your Bible but our sage Lao-Tzu has said, 'A wise man does not contend therefore no one can contend against him. Yield and overcome." - Caine, on being told of the 'turn-the-other-cheek' quote in the Bible.

"Time is carving you... let yourself be shaped according to your true nature." - Master Po

"All creatures - the low and the high - are one with nature. No life is insignificant. If we have the wisdom to learn, all may teach us their virtues.... Life sustains life and all living creatures need nourishment. Yet, with wisdom the body learns to sustain in ways that all may live."
