  The veggiedude comment...
veggiedude.jpgDespite having a wonderful wife, with a child on the way, Marcus was unfulfilled with his life. He needed the approval and company of other men like himself. This triggers a flashback in Caine of a man he had once fished out of the river. The man had always wanting to end his miserable life and finally had the courage to do so - but he failed because of Caine's heroics.

"I want meat!" demands the man.
"We do not eat meat," replies Caine with a shrug of the shoulder.
"No meat..." sighs the man, "Twice in my life have I tasted meat. Twice! The first time, I could not believe the taste. The second time, I hated how good it was. You saved my life, you expect thanks, get me meat! I'll thank you."
"I can not." replies Caine.

The man leaves the temple and later on Caine has a second encounter with the man around an open fire. He is roasting a pig he had stolen. The man was finally happy and content, because he had so much meat to himself!

Caine asks why he doesn't share the food with others who were as hungry as he was, but he just laughs it off. The owner of the pig arrives and shoots the man dead. Caine wonders to Master Kan if giving the man a few extra days to live really meant anything at all.

I thought this one was a little slow. A nice message, but a little simple and it dragged a bit. I liked the flashback scenes; very interesting with a grown-up Caine.
