More Details:
Alethea (played by Jodie Foster) mistakenly thinks Caine shot someone, so from her point of view, she is telling the truth. In the flashback sequence, Caine remembers how he, at age 12, lost his innocence for not being truthful enough, as he wanted to save the life of a robber. It seems Caine is trying to atone for that mistake through this girl, even though it may cost him his own life.

Interesting quotes:
"If the jury cannot see innocence in my eyes, will they find it in a lawyer's mouth?" - Caine

"Each waking moment is as a rung on an endless ladder. Each step we take is built on what has gone before." - Caine

Wow, it's been a long time since this was on. I was 8 years old in 1972. This is a young Jodie Foster. They really need to have Jackie Chan do a Kung Fu movie series. Thanks for posting these.
